Food Blog: Kalakoa Coffee Hut

Aloha, brah!

Feel the Hawaiian vibe as Kalakoa Coffee Hut offers you refreshing drinks and delicious pastries to calm your sweat glands down on a very hot day! Kalakoa Coffee Hut opened last September 21, 2013.

The place is very convenient, especially for students who just want to chill and talk about anything, or for shopaholics who need to rest their heels and treat their tummies since the tiki hut is just located inside the mall. The smoothies they offer range from 95-125 Php. The cupcakes are worth 65 Php, and the cakes are for 125 Php per slice.

What we ordered:
  • Kahai Smoothie for 115 Php
  • Hilo Frappe for 125 Php
  • Salted Caramel Frappe for 120 Php

What you see is what you get!

With the owner, Ms. Bianca Delgado :)

Yea's:
  • The smoothies were worth their prices. I actually had a hard time finishing my drink because I was so full already!
  • I loved the comfy seats! It definitely added to the laid back atmosphere.
  • Miss Bianca offered me their Banana crumb cake for free. It was so good! I will not get into details with the taste so you would have to try it out for yourself! Teehee.

Nay's:
  • I initially felt a bit awkward with the location but eventually didn't mind about it since I was too busy sipping my yummy smoothie and talking to my girlfriends (Is this even a nay? haha)

With Mel, Thesa and Camila!

PS Sorry for the low quality, forgetful me forgot to charge my camera's battery :(

Food Blog: Pastanni

Who doesn’t love street food in the Philippines? You spend 50 pesos or less and viola- You have a full meal already. But, the fact that not all street foods are healthy and clean, not everybody can enjoy the feeling of eating cheap, savory food. Unfortunately, I cannot eat street foods, no matter how tempting they could get, thanks to my feeble immune system.

Pastanni, however, is a whole new level of street food. Not only did it place its stall inside a luxury mall, but it also serves street food the Italian way. If the Filipinos prefer their Chicken proben’s and isaw’s served on sticks, the Italians favor theirs inside paper cups. (This does not apply to all Italian street food- so I guess it’s just part of the store’s creativity). The store opened just this September (I forgot the exact day haha), 2013.

Yea's:

  • Just like any other street food stall, my order came up within 5 minutes. This store is a good option for people who cannot afford to insert their food breaks on their busy schedules.
  • I ordered a Risotto Bowl of Roast Beef with Garlic Yoghurt -It was so delicious!!

Nay’s:

  • When I saw the waiter (with my bowl of happiness on the tray he was carrying) coming up to where I was sitting, I wasn’t so happy anymore when it was finally placed on my table. My instant reaction was: Where’s the other half of my order? My food literally filled only half of the cup.
  • Yes, the food was really good, and yes, the order came up fast, but no, it was not worth my 150 pesos- not recommended for the practical people and definitely not for the hungry Croods. I think the only solution to this dilemma is if the costumers would have additional orders, which should've been a must for me since I already had a good impression on the Roast Beef Risotto Bowl.

P.S. Tho the prices are a big nay for me, I still plan to go back here and try out their other goodies in store.

Kitchen Shenanigans: Comfort Shake

Last Tuesday night, my friend Camila and I decided to lighten up our moods by making a yummy shake!

Caffe D’Vita Mocha Cappucino: S&R

Elle & Vire Whipping Cream: Robinson’s Supermarket

It is always a good idea to top your shake with a whip cream! This Elle & Vire Whipping cream was very rich and creamy that I had to struggle not to open the fridge and put the whole contents of the can inside my mouth.

For the Health Conscious:

  • There are 100 calories in a 2 tbsp serving of Caffe D'Vita Mocha Cappuccino. You can always try out for other alternatives if you want.
  • Calorie breakdown: 36% fat, 60% carbs, 4% protein. For more details click here.

I suggest that you shouldn’t make this too often (although it is quite impossibru, especially after your first sip), as it may interfere with your diet -or, you could count this as your cheat day! haha. I swear, one glass is not enough!
